It’s finally the 14th July and we were due to catch a shuttle to the airport at 2.15pm. It arrived half an hour late in a decent sized bus towing a large trailer. Just for our bikes ! Unfortunately when he drove up to our house he realised too late he couldn’t get out again. I offered to turn it around so after a 10point turn I finally had him pointing in the right direction and we were off ( no, I gave him back the wheel)8 passengers so there was bound to be some who wanted a toilet stop at NgateaIt’s not easy checking in oversized luggage. You need to stand the bikes on their ends to negotiate the lanes.
Ok, it’s done and we can relax. The first flight is 17 hours to Dubai, 3 hours break then 7 more to Paris. We will arrive at 1.30pm which is a good time as we can assemble the bikes and go just 13 kms to Juilly , our bed for the night.
We plan to follow the Marne/ Rhine canal to Strasbourg for the first stage, then south to Mulhouse to meet up with Michael and Susan for a week or so( depending on how long they can put up with us ) from there we’ll head west towards the Loire.
