Rafz πŸ‡¨πŸ‡

Christine still rises by 6am and so caught the sun coming up. It’s a bit nippy but it’ll be a nice dayCouncil staff were out doing their thing. This guys hand watering all the town flowers. With a camera each we end up photographing each other sometimes. ( pretty cool recycling depot ) This is Stein am Rhein. The rich merchants would show off their wealth by having a top artist put paintings over their houses. we’re following the right bank to Schaffhausen. The country side changes but the trail is a good surface all the way. ( I’m able to take shots while biking )It’s coffee time by the time we reach Gailingen en Hochrhein .The old bridge is still used by cars. As we sat outside having our coffee we noticed these two repairing a roof opposite. Those Dormer windows are 5 stories up. They had ropes on , see the slack? But I reckon they would have dropped 2 stories before hitting the end of the ropeπŸ™ˆWe’re travelling along a farmers cattle race now, weaving in and out the fresh cow pats. It’s getting hot.Schaffhausen. It’s a beautiful old town but we’ve been here before when we were following EV6 going west to east so we didn’t go sightseeing. Except that is ,to see the magnificent Rhine falls again, just 3kms downstreamYou can walk across just above them on the railway bridge. Horrendous noise !

You can choose a bike route following either bank downstream now. We chose the right bank heading now to Jestetten. We came across a property beside the trail with the most incredible display of sculptors in stainless. There was a workshop on the property where these two clever chaps turned them out. This one is a gate and depicts St Peter waiting to let you through (must admit I got through no problem)Today we’ve seen a dead snake on the path and this little lizard. Very much alive but just keeping very still.BUGGAR !! Trail closed for tree felling . Backed up a few kms then carried on along the main road. Although busy it didn’t feel that dangerous and here’s why. 50 through towns, 80 kms/hr on the open road and 120 on the motorways. NZ TAKE NOTE. ( that’s in Switzerland )Here we are in Rafz. 60 kms further on and still in Switzerland because the border goes north of the Rhine in this area. This is home for the night 😴😴
