Neuf-Brisach

What a job getting out of Mulhouse! Ended up following this route, EV5. The London to Brindisi in Italy trail. We’ll get back on EV15 at ColmarOk for a while then the signs became ambiguous , then disappeared ! Ended up back near Mulhouse. Finally found a metal track running beside the old Rhône Rein canal, at least it was pointing in the right directionThis canal isn’t used for boats anymore and so on each lock they have a power plant using the old Archimedes wheel principal. Clever idea to get maximum power from a small flow. When a side road appeared we were glad to get off the metal. We’d come out into Defence force land. The sign says “NO ENTRY when shooting is happening”. Fastest 5 kms we’ve ever done !We came back onto a proper road at Munchouse. Aptly names because we stopped there for lunch. It’s flat cropland through this part of the Alsace and the roadside has cherries , just ripe , growing alongside. I couldn’t help grazing. Yum 😋 FINALLY its only been 50kms but seemed to take forever. Neuf-Brisach is the village inside the last Vauban fort he built for king Louis the 14th. Our hotel is right in the middle , charming but the worst internet yet so I won’t try any more photos
