Worms

( pronounced Vorms and it’s a city , not something your dog has)On the way out of Speyer we had a good look down town. This area is where Martin Luther started his church so there seems to be some competition for the highest towers. This is the catholic cathedral and with its copper roof we saw it from about 5 kms away yesterday as we came in to town . It’s HUGE.

On the outskirts of Ludwigshafen the trail split in 2. You could go through the town, or take the fork to the right and stay on the Rhein. “Careful of the tram tracks, they can pitch you off”. Up by that bus we saw an arrow pointing off to the left. Thinking this was our trail we followed it… ok for a while but signs were getting scarceNavmii was telling me this was a minor road heading in the right direction, we could see a church steeple off to our right so at the first chance we headed for that. Finally ! It’s taken an hour and we have found our route sign to Worms. “This place looks familiar ? Look at those tram tracks !”

SHIT SHIT SHIT . We’re back exactly where we were an hour agoStill ! The worse days biking is still better than the best days’ hay making. (That’s all I did for summer until I left home. ) And this guys got it even worst. I was so impressed with the way he threw those bales up with a pitchfork. That’s his wife stacking ! No one is driving. 🤭 He would run up to the cab occasionally and turn the wheel ( it was just idling along)Finally we are back on the river. If we had taken the fork right , way back, we’d have been here ages ago ” forking bike routes !”WORMS Our hotel is right on the town square. Germany is gripped in World Cup football fever and there’s a huge TV in the square ( there’s 5 around the city ). Its Germany versus Sweden and the half time score is 1:1 I can hear the noise from our room so as soon as I’ve finished this I’m off down to join in
