On our last 15kms on German soil I finally realised what they meant when they wished me this. I thought it was like “bon appetite” or, “I hope you enjoyed your meal”
It’s still just after 7.15 as we cross the Rhein to Millingen and the Nederlands
We are now entering the Rhein Delta. It splits here and splits 5 times altogether before it reaches the North Sea . Between the 2 rivers you can just see Fort Voorm. Part of Holland’s WW2 defences
Now we know that Holland has the best bike roads but this system of finding your route is sheer brilliance. Just pick your destination and follow the numbers. Kms are also added
We’re heading for 72 . There are vast areas of ‘nature parks’ on the delta where plants and animals are left to themselves
Semi tame herds of horses and cattle can roam throughout the delta . It’s forbidden to feed them !
This is a passage way from one zone to another between the 2 cattle stops.
Nijmegen. The vintage boat port
Almost all bike routes now are along the top of huge dykes. The views are superb and especially being able to look down into peoples gardens

” hey what are you guys doing on our dyke?” The truck coming towards us had to back up to let the other pass
House boats are a common living alternative in Holland. Dig the swimming pool !
We have found a lovely B & B for tonight in Beneden-Leeuwen. B&B JOSIN
Geraldine and the ‘boys’ made us very welcome
