We paid €8.50 for a fancy breakfast this morning but frankly, we’d kill for a plate of porridge!
For the first 4 kms after leaving our hotel we climbed, and climbed and BLOODY CLIMBED ! All on a full stomach … it came right after that and we continued along quiet country roads through hundreds and hundreds of acres of wheat .
The little villages are about 5kms apart and each one seems to want to outdo their neighbours. Amelsen.
making methane for the farm tractors from green waste, just outside of Einbeck. We had our morning coffee stop here in Einbeck and then headed for Greene. The next village on today’s list. Only 5 kms away
WELL !! It started as a very pleasant ride through a forest until we realised we were utterly lost. There were roads going in all directions. Some parts so steep we had to push ! When we came to a clearing the GPS helped us to find a track out
now that we’ve found the way out ( and it’s all downhill ), it’s time for lunch
Greene ! Never thought I’d see it. The 13th century castle is mostly in ruins now but the Middle Ages saw lots of feuds ( and witch hunts ),in this part of Germany.
Kreinsen. Cattle are stored in barns right in the centre of most of these villages and there’s alway a strong smell of dung and silage.
as we get closer to Bad Gandersheim the route goes through private land. ( I had to get her to explain that). After Bad Gandersheim we got confused with the signage and had to ask the local mechanic how to get to Seesen without going onto the busy main road
No more problems and we eventually arrived here in Goslar. What a stroke of good luck choosing here !!

Almost all of the old buildings are still here from the 15th and 16th centuries. The whole town is a living museum ,gorgeous! Even our hotel is from the 1700s , beautifully restored inside ( and only €63 !)
and they no longer burn their witches at the stake !
