Leba

It’s Sunday and we’ve only planned a short day to Leba . ‘Bike trails ‘ had it down as “a lovely 53 km ride”. If I ever meet the mongrel that writes that crap I’m going to wring his neck.Eric the owner came out to see us off at 7am, “No we left the tv EricThe first section was along an old railway line “this is neat ,we’ll be in by lunch time”. You can see by the map that it’s a straight line nearly all the way to Leba.Little bit rougher before Rowy but we can handle a little bit .Rowy. The supermarkets are open on Sunday in Poland. The ancient church of St. Peter and Paul. Poland is a VERY catholic country and as we came past people were filling up the outside pews and standing in the streets as well. Christines in there somewhere !The singing was lovely and loudspeakers were feeding the service to those outside. The next goal was Czolpino. It got rougher and sandier . We had to push several times, but never mind we were at least going east.Nearly there, and as we were studying a map on the trail, along came Michael and friends.and friends of friends. Anyway, the good news was Czolpino was only 3 kms away. The bad news was the trail actually uses the beach for 20kms into Leba and we would have to push the whole way. Did you know that there is only a 1 foot tide in the Baltic. So no big wide hard sand strip like NZ beachesWe would just have to go south of the lake down to Glowczyce then up the green dotted lineMichael ,another one, from Finland had just found out alsoBut,,,the highlight of coming this way was we came across this farmers stall selling home made buns and doughnuts. I haven’t yet found a pastry that I like in Poland but these were delicious .Izbica. This German couple stayed at the same place as us last night. He’s going the same way as us to Gdańsk . It’s over 30degrees and we’re going through a lot of waterGac. Bloody cobblestones again. But hey, they’re still a lot better than soft sand . Pushing again. There’s a side road coming up so we’ll take it out to the main road. It’s only 6 kms to Leba so we can handle a bit of traffic. Oh no.! Now we’re REALLY pissed off . The main road has a new bike path beside it. We could have been in hours ago. What started off as a 50km romp in the park, has ended up as the hardest 88 kms we’ve done.. We’re in a really nice villa tonight and we’re going to take a break tomorrow and stay an extra night
