Riga

As we were leaving Liepaja this morning I caught this interesting cloud formation over the river. That round building is the Theatre . We are catching the bus to Riga this morning ( it was supposed to be a train but they cancelled it.) The trouble is , on a train you just hop on. On the bus you have to bag the bikes. No biggy. I can do it in under 10 minutes a bike now.Latvia’s a nice enough country but it’s no place to bike . Too dangerous ! We’re told Estonia’s not much better but we’ll see. Besides, if we’re not in Helsinki this week we will be pushing it to be back in Amsterdam in time and if there’s any train transporting needed ,then why do it at the other end where it’s the nicest to ride.I quickly put them back together again at the Riga station . Our hotel is only 400metres away . Booked while on the bus We like Riga especially the old town. For some reason it’s even got the musiciens of Bremen here. Like the one in Bremen you rub their noses for luck. But the best thing about Riga is the KIWI PUB !! The place was humming! A large group of Poms were over for a stag do and were in high spirits watching the cricket World Cup . I was in my element !And on the other screen was the Wimbledon finals so Christine was ecstatic toothere were 6 kiwis in total and we started celebrating a bit earlyIf only our boys realised the humiliation we would face I’m sure they would have tried harder. But we still walked home along the riverside pretty happy. hic
