Sweden’s cycleway no.1 , the Kattegattleden ,runs from Gothenburg to Helsingborg. Today we pick it up at Helmstad and will stay on it for 80kms to Ängelholm. Tomorrow we will take it as far as Helsingborg before catching the ferry to Denmark.
Clearly marked ,it passes through little seaside villages
under, and sometimes beside the busy highway,
past historic sites… This is a burial ground from the 0-400AD period. It’s called the boulder fields of Paap and there’s 250 cairns here.

All along the coast we’ve been seeing lots of yachts out racing. There’s little harbours every so often. This one at Båstad was running a national keeler series. We then climbed the biggest hill we’ve seen so far in Sweden .
Still not very big mind you
When we got to the top the road ran through the middle of a beautiful golf course. This course must have the best views in Sweden. The Bjäre Golfclub for you golfers.![]()
Förslöv. there’s a lot of very old thatch cottages in this area.
I’ve just found I need to reduce the photo size if the internet is not strong. We kept bumping in to a Dutch couple today so we decided to cool off together .
Vejbystrand. There was a vintage car meet. Served my time on these old A30’s
We had a sausage from their sizzle but wished we hadn’t ‘ let’s just say we filled up with a tank full of gas !’

Ängelholm. The boats come right in to the centre of town here as well. Our hotel is the Erikslund 6kms further south still.I got a fright when we arrived at reception . I had entered the wrong night with Booking .com. The 10th instead of the 3rd. LUCKILY, they had one spare room.! 200 kroner dearer but we were very glad of it 🥵
