Dorpum

It’s only about 10kms to the German border and we’ve still got some Danish currency in coins to spend.( you can only exchange paper money) It went on pastry and liquorice in a supermarket and so we headed for PadborgGermany. 🇩🇪 The border guards were busy stopping cars as they came from Germany in to Denmark . Not sure why ? We needed to use the GPS to get through Flensburg and onto our route west . We’ve been to Flensburg before so didn’t bother stopping this timeThey’ve grown this type of tree here where the birds don’t have to do any work. They just move in and wait for someone to feed them . Mmm ?Hadrup. I love these villages where the cow sheds come right up to the road. If the smell of cow dung and silage aren’t your thing though ,then it may not appeal to you.All day we’ve been dodging showers. Luckily it’s only 58kms to Dorpum so we’ve got plenty of time. At Grobenwiche thé police had a hand held radar working. This road didn’t have a separate bikeway beside it so I asked for advise. She went to great trouble to show me an alternative route and probably saved 2 or 3 motorists getting speeding ticketsThe green signs are a bike route that took us straight to Dorpum on some nice quiet back roadsThe Moellgaards. A little further on and what a pleasant surprise. Our appartement is on one end of the main house. Separate lounge, kitchen, it’s fantastic.Our hosts own a horse farm and riding school. That’s Christian and Anya with daughters Ose and Wienke. oh and that’s Nellie. Note the wind farm behind them .The Moelgaards belong to a local community of 90 shareholders that own 19 of these beauties. ( 4 million dollars each )Anya teaches riding in their indoor pavilionWhile Christian has to have the perfect farmers life ! His 2 robots mow the front and back lawns ( using the power they generate probably ) and he can just sit and watch them turn. 1 dollar 2 dollars 3 dollars …..
