Pfäffikon

I woke at 6am to the sound of rain outside. Will we sleep in ? Surprisingly we were wide awake and rearing to go so decided ‘to hell with the rain , it was warm and a bit of rain wouldn’t hurt us‘

Notice the white box on the wall? A lot of accomodation with ‘booking.com’ have contactless check ins. They send you a code which you punch in and the room key will appear.

Pfäffikon is only 40 kms along the south side of lake Zurich but we must have covered a lot more having got hopelessly lost getting out of the city. After nearly an hour of searching for the lake ( you wouldn’t think it was hard to find) I asked a young girl if I was on the correct route . Young people are your best chance of speaking English “ yes you’re on the right route sir but heading in the wrong direct. Turn around and go THAT Way “

Half an hour later and totally full of humble pie we came into the ‘Old Zurich ‘ and a market down near the lake front. Love the markets of Europe !

Christine loves photographing flowers so the clock on the lakefront was a must

A lot of the lakeside riding today was on a shared road but with the speed limit of 60kms and well marked lanes it was a relaxing ride. It’s such a beautiful country to bike in and boasts the BEST public transport, trains ferries trams buses… mind you they’re well supported by the locals because fuel here is nz $4.50 a litre

The rain never came to much. If it had we could have caught a train or a ferry. Here the train leaves the lakeside and crosses over to remain on our right

Lots of little beach’s all with toilet blocks which is a godsend for elderly cyclists. We passed the occasional cowshed right out close to the road.

By 1.30 we were in Pfäffikon and another contactless entry. First job, wash todays clothes

It’s 30 degrees outside so it will dry quickly

Yep it doesn’t look much but it’s really comfortable and at 129 Swiss Franks , it’s very well priced. ( one frank equals $2 kiwi dollars)
