We need to get off the road earlier to avoid too much heat so last night I found a place only 35 kms away , a cabin with AIRCON !

We WERE give a good breakfast here, thank goodness! The pleasant thing about being in France now ,is the price of accommodation has dropped significantly, even though it’s the school holidays until the end of August . That villa only cost $93 ( plus $20 for 2 breakfasts )

We’ve seen lots of school camps along the way. Sailing, canoeing, tennis camps and now in this area we’ve passed several equestrian camps . It’s great to see !

I find the older villages interesting as they made their buildings out of local materials I’m in the school grounds of Hières-sur-Amby. The stone is from the cliff face on the edge of the valley and if you bring up the building you can see the walls and the fences and even the roof is made of the local stone. Obviously replaced with tiles later on

And on the opposite side of the river is a nuclear power station. France has 95 nuclear power stations from memory. Each one producing zero carbon emissions. ( time to rethink perhaps ? )

Well that was Quick. We arrived in Saint-Romain de Jalionas at 11.00am and they let us in to our cabin soon after ( it takes me longer to write the names of these towns) We can now watch the Tour de France in air conditioned comfort. ahhhh….
