Les Tourrettes

It’s 6am and just getting light
It’s not cold , and not yet hot

If we had stayed for breakfast it would have been a 7am start and that’s just a waste of cool travelling time

On the bridge over the Rhone looking back at Valence. That’s an angry looking Sun

The EV route runs down the right bank to start with this morning . We had to go one kilometre north to get off the bridge then doubled back to pass under it. Seemed a waste of peddling

Myriam

Just past Soyons we were joined by a lovely young lass from Switzerland, Myriam. She had slept in the open beside the market gardens and travelled with us for half an hour.

On her way to Port St Louis du Rhone on the Mediterranean. She had started in Geneva and will return there by train
Parts of the Rhone need dredging . The sand is then barged to a plant like this where the long reach digger was emptying it. It’s good quality building material
La Voulte-sur-Rhône

It’s 8.00am now and we’re looking for breakfast. There was a queue outside one of the boulangerie so I figured it must be good

Oh yes ! Well worth the wait

While we were enjoying our pastries and coffee I rang our daughter Susan in Australia. ( I am loving my new found data )

And then it was time to cross to the left bank over this old beauty. Barely room for 2 cars to pass each other!
Direction Montélimar but the hotel I’ve booked is before it ( another B&B hotel )

At Le Pousin we should have crossed again but our hotel is on this bank about 15kms further along so we left the veloroute.

What a long boring 15kms it was too. Not the official cycle trail so not sealed. We can just see the dam which is at Tourrettes

Early start, early finish ! Now we can just relax and read our books. It was still pleasant at 11.30 when we finished but we just stepped outside again and it’s up to 39 degrees again( 7.00pm )We’ll stay with these early starts until the weather breaks
