Sneaking out at 6.am, no one was up except the security guardExcept for sections of trail under repair the whole way so far has been sealed bike routes. The locals here still have to put up with the old gravel road
The google map said 35kms , the sign post just ahead said 44kms, we ended up doing just under 50. The road forked just up ahead and one way went via Orange.. Supposedly the same distance, but what it didn’t say was that way used a section of the N7
Orangés Arch de Triomphe. Built in the first century by the Romans’ to celebrate their victories in the Provinces
The N7 was quiet , being Saturday morning I suppose and we were soon in Orange. We FaceTimed our daughter in Orange, Australia . Just for the hell of it !
The old theatre It’s a beautiful city with lots of reminders of Roman existence hereThe colossal amphitheater. Still in regular use after 2000 years . All the great entertainers have performed hereWe toured it on a previous visit so today we’ll just have a coffee while my phone is charging Just before Rochemaure a herd of about 30 white horses was being driven towards us.They looked like the Breed from the Camargue Winding through the streets of Rochemaure There was a garage on the edge of town with at least 6 old Morgan’s. They must be worth squillions !Avignon. This screen shot was to show me where to find our accommodation. It’s right opposite the old town and Popes palaceThe Althea Come on downIt’s huge! Aircon, separate toilet, fridge, it’s even got a Japanese sauna in the corner
The old town was humming ! Avignon has a summer festival that goes on for months. Entertainment of all sorts, people running around in all sorts of funny costumes trying to drum up clientele for the many shows on.
We went in to see an art show in this old chapel. It was perfectly round ! Beautiful, and so was the art.
It’s time to go back to the Althea and have a cold beer on the deck
