La Pera

You could be forgiven for thinking we were sneaking out without paying. It’s 6am and a week ago it would have been light
The sun is just poking its head over the hills as we leave town. Two old men were filling their car/ truck with cans of water from the irrigation ditch

Spain is extremely dry and some parts are getting drastically short of water

My map said I should be crossing a river here. I’ve worked out a route to take us along back roads to La Pera . It’s winding around little farms , mostly cows and pigs. (The smell of pig poo is travelling with us)

7am and it’s straight ahead through Tonya and we’ll turn left just before Garrigàs. I’ve written it all down in front of me
Palau de Santa Eulàlia. The road went through the middle of this farmers sheds . never mind looking out for old ladies with walking sticks. Watch out for old ladies on bikes

St Miquel de Fluvià. We’re off the metal road now so we stop for a coffee fix.

Colomers. We could smell the pork cooking from a kilometre away now we see the smoke
Every seat was taken and people were waiting outside. Talk about selling the smell
St Jordi Desvalls. My route has almost been perfect. Luckily we could push our bikes over the tracks
Then just out of town a low level bridge
The old mill at Flaçà
Nearly there. That’s Flaçà in the background. We stopped for lunch there as we only have 4 more kms to go.
This is Juani. Her and her husband came out to meet us and she handed me a lovely note explaining all the things I should know.
Mas Duran is a very old Catalonian farm house with huge rooms for their guests. It’s 39 degrees, just after 1pm , so the pool was soooo good.
The old road once went up and over the little bridge.
And led into the pretty little village of La Pera
Oriol and Lia and their parents have only just bought the property this year. I read about it on Booking.com and we are so pleased we made the effort to come here ( the clock on the wall hasn’t been adjusted for daylight saving time yet)
