St Feliu de Guíxols

Just dropping the keys into the office. 6.05. Lights not good but there’s plenty of street lights and hardly a car to be seen
We didn’t need to go on the road at all today. Even getting out of Gerona was like this right up to the rail trail. ( carrilet )
Quart. All the old stations are still in good condition. The line was completed in 1872 and finally closed in 1969
Just bypassing Llambilles. It’s 7am and already busy with cyclists
Another bridge . There are picnic tables , water fountains and toilets all the way
Around Casa de la Silva the tracks been concreted. Yes you’ve noticed the All Blacks cap. I can’t find an Irish one
Llagostera. Several coffee shops on the side of the track and all busy.
The station is now the information centre
Taken in the 50s from the same spot

By now there are dozens of cyclists , some racing ,some with families, groups of walkers…

Just outside Llagostera the Thursday morning market was on each side of the track
Off on a camping trip
From here to saint Cristina d’ora the track descended rapidly. About 7kms and all concrete. It was fantastic fun
On the outskirts of Saint Cristina d’ore they built a restaurant and a nearby spring was used for healing water. It became quite the place to go for your health
We just love to watch the young families out having fun ( I just realised how old I’m sounding)
Saint Cristina d’ore.(Fancy having a station named after you )
In the next town by the station there’s a miniature railway and one of the old locomotives
A plantation of cork trees had recently had their bark harvested
Coming into St Feliu
The end of the line. We’d already passed all the Goods sheds. The ships used to tie up next door to this
And inside the station is a restaurant with one of the old Loco’s and a carriage. This shed and a good part of the town were heavily bombed in the Spanish civil war

There now ! The Costa Brava isn’t a bad place to finish a wonderful days cycling
