Barcelona

Two Scots joined me outside the supermarket waiting for it to open at 8am. They’d just been for a good run which made me feel guilty because we’re about to hop on the bus to Barcelona
We were assured that there was no need to book a spot for a bike or to put it in a bag. Certainly not the norm in most countrys.
Masks are compulsory on public transport

I soon realised why they were so relaxed about it. The driver pressed a button in the cab and the huge cargo doors opened. You then had to store your own gear, he never went near it. I shifted a few suitcases then squeezed the bikes in on their sides. He pressed the magic button again and the doors closed without him even glancing inside !

The Bus depot was just 200 metres from the Arch de Triomphe. We’ve booked a hotel on the outskirts of the city, about 13 kms from here. We can get real luxury further out for less than what you’d pay for a bunk bed in a Hostal around here

Fabulous Park, just over a kilometre long. I know because at this point I realised we had gone in the wrong direction and had to turn around and go past the Arch again
Interestingly though ,after all this time we found we were on Eurovelo 8 again. We left it before Perpignan. Love the bikeways down the centre of the street.
We are following Avenguda diagonal . It cuts diagonally across the city running dead straight for 11 kms to our suburb. Beautiful bikeways in all directions and some of the architecture, old and new is stunning.

We’ll take the train back into the city tomorrow and play the tourists again
