City bus tours

This morning we caught the train to the city centre, then to get a full appreciation of this city we climbed aboard one of the many double decker tourist buses

The Christopher Columbus statue to commemorate his meeting with the Spanish queen after returning from discovering the New World
We got off at the harbour to go searching for the America’s Cup bases, having heard that Team NZ were already there and also Team Alingi. These street vendors were funny , at a given signal from someone, they would grab their wares and run away to set up somewhere else

I knew where the bases were planned to be but there was nothing to be seen. I couldn’t help thinking that Barcelona, nice though it is, is not a patch on the facilities of Auckland.

The old Hospital
The Sagrada Família
1000s of tourists around it and as we were constantly reminded ,lots of pickpockets

This was one Cathedral I really wanted to see ,the architecture and art of Gaudi. It’s an ongoing project long after his death and you really need to use a telescopic lens to capture the fine detail on the outside of the building. Unfortunately we would have had to queue for hours to go through it ( and part with €50 per person )

This building was his last work
Not his work but he influenced other architects to be daring and innovative also. This is why Barcelona has such interesting buildings

The temperature was a comfortable 30degrees today which made for a pleasant day out
