Prague

Krystal hotel. It’s quite nice and at $120, about half what you’d pay in NZ. We had to book in for another night as they still haven’t found our bikes. Never mind, we were going to sightsee for a couple of days anyway. I’ll start panicking tomorrow night
Getting around is easy. Trams and buses cover the whole city and come along every 10 minutes. 2 dollars for a day pass so it’s no wonder there aren’t many cars around
Or bikes for that matter but if you’re expected to share with buses and taxis I wouldn’t be that keen either
The gates to the old city. Two things have struck us so far. Hardly ANY litter and how polite and helpful the young people are. We would step onto a tram and someone would immediately stand up and offer us a seat
Bea took us to the old city
This teacher and 3 students took a survey on us on what we knew about Czechia. We failed the test miserably but we learnt a lot. Especially how it was to live behind the iron curtain as she did.
The old clock tower and council chambers. The basement was once at street level and was part of the tour we took. Built in the 11th century and can still hold up this tower !
And every hour on the hour the astrological clock would go through its show to a huge crowd. The oldest clock of its kind in Europe
The tour took you up to the top of the tower and also showed us the inside of the clock. These guys would come and look out the window when it chimed
The basement, once at street level. Apparently when the river flooded the houses would flood so they built the street up above the houses and started again. It was then used as a prison
The tower had a council chamber used back in the 16th century and of course a chapel

We are still suffering jet lag so half a day sightseeing is enough. It’s a beautiful city so we’ll go out again tomorrow
