The information centre in Melnik gave us some great maps of the entire Elbe cycle route with distances between each town. This is going to make it a lot easier to plan our next stop. I found a holiday cabin at Hrobce 45 kms away . We never did any training for this trip so we’re just easing our way into itThe public library at Dolní Beřkovice. Note the recycled furniture 8.30 and not a breath of air. The top temperature has been 24degrees which is great for cyclingAt Racice the trail passes beside the international rowing centre. Last September the world champs were here. I remember NZ winning several gold medalsA cycle tour group turned up for coffee at the cafe. There were about 30 of them , not an unusual number as this type of touring is huge in Europe. What is unusual though is the amount of coffee shops along the way, most of them closed until midday. This group were going to wait until 11.00 when this cafe opens. ( coffee keeps the wheels turning)Approaching Roudnice. No, they’re closed tooAhhhh. Strudel as wellHrobce. And the ‘cabin’. It’s a nice change and the location excellent It’s right on the river so I can watch the activity. ( unusual way to launch fella’s)And I can watch the feeding out to the animals as it’s part of a farm
But best of all there’s a bar next door ( calorie replacement)
