Pirna

We’re heading for a place just the other side of Pirna. The sign said 17k but it ended up being 32k .It’s been trying to rain all day so we don’t want to push our luck
There’s a steep little section of bush before we get to Konigstein . The trail from now on runs along the far bank so we’ll catch the ferry here
Happily I’m now carrying euros so no problems today ( €6 )
There’s a lot more pretty gardens along the way in Germany
Christine stopped to tell an old lady how lovely her garden was. She beamed and said Danke danke, but when I took my camera out she hid behind a bush ?
Kurort Rathen. Lots of tourists come here for the scenic walks
And when you step into this little amphitheater/ lookout, you are surrounded by the most beautiful music coming from pipes surrounding you
There’s lots of people around but you still can’t get them to open a coffee shop ( welcome? Yeah right !)
There’s regular paddle steamers operating since Bad Schandau
Obervogelgesang . A stream of cyclists came and went while we were there. Many were drinking big tankards of beer but we just had coffee and a BIG German sausage
Yes I know dear but honestly there’s only room for two of us on the bike
Pirna. We’ll go sightseeing until we can get into our hotel
I spent some time with a man who was restoring old DAFs. They were the ‘people’s car ‘in the DDR ( Deutschland Democratic Republic) and are now a collectors item

Pension Else. It’s a charming old hotel but the Fraulein would only take cash so we had to go in search of an ATM. ( it’s just starting to rain)
