It’s only 25ks to Dresden but we want to spend the day there to go sightseeing
Loschwitz. It’s Saturday morning and the villages along the way are setting up marketsJust before Dresden we came across the biggest jumble sale I’ve ever seenThe centre of the city was heavily bombed during WW2 which is clearly shown from the top of the cathedral. Virtually rebuilt (that’s a chunk of the damaged church on the right)It’s easy to pick out the old buildings and those replaced after the war. That’s the direction we will head tomorrow morning Tourists everywhere. Queuing for a ferry, buggy rides or to get into the museums The artwork is astonishing. This the most amazing mural I have ever seen. Anywhere! It’s a 100 metre long mural depicting all the kings( or Kaisers ) of Germany from Albrecht D Stolze in 1190To Kaiser Wilhelm 1906. ( in the top hat) It’s baked onto thousand of small tiles and the detail is astounding As well as some very good busking acts, a group of Ukrainien teenagers had set up a stall showing artwork from Ukrainien children depicting what the war meant to them. That’s enough tourists for one day. I used the wifi of a nearby restaurant to book a hotel for the night. Once you get a couple of kms out they are really quite reasonable again.
