Nunchritz

This hotel was excellent. ie. it had cup of tea making facilities and a fridge. It’s our favourite Luxury and it also meant we could have breakfast in our room( muesli yoghurt and fruit)

This lets us get away earlier. Why ? To avoid the heat after midday. Just out of town we came across this old flour mill. 1680 but had been restored in 2007.
The old pumphouse , barns ,culverts… all have murals of a very high quality around here. I guess it slows down the graffiti artists
MeiBen. It’s only 9am but we’ve managed to find coffee at a hotel in the town square.
I could hear beautiful music coming from the old church so I went in to listen. The pipe organ was being played and a lone trumpeter accompanying . Fabulous acoustics !
Meiben castle
We’ve left the hills and gorges of Saxony behind us now and the land is fattening out
At Niederlommatzsch we crossed to the right bank .There were 13 bikes on that tiny ferry! ( have you been getting the pronunciation right)

When we’re looking for our hotel I usually use a cafes’ wifi or ask someone.I tried using nz data but it was working out very expensive. I also tried getting a German SIM card. VERY DIFFICULT ..! You need to go to a post office and fill out a few hundred forms, take proof of your German address, show your passport, drivers license, be at least 70 years old , oh, and be accompanied by both parents. Needless to say I’ll make do with borrowed wifi

Just off the ferry I struck up a conversation with this old chap. He saw my flag and said he always wanted to visit NZ but he grew up behind the iron curtain and it wasn’t allowed. Also said the paperwork got a lot simpler after communism . ( simpler! It must have been bad then)
Booking.com has found me a cracker little Italian hotel in this town Nunchritz ( pronounced nunzcrutch I kid you not)

They had my favourite beer on tap BREZNAK . We passed by the brewery in Velke Brezno back in Czechia. Good story, the Brewery was founded in 1660 and had stayed in the Breznak family until bought out 50 odd years ago by a big company. They asked if they could use his picture on the labels and on advertising ,to which he replied “ yes but I want 50 pints of beer a week free until I die!” So it’s become a very famous poster outside hotels and bars ever since.
