Schonebeck

The bike garage was almost full. It’s been the same in every hotel so far
We were on the road just after 6am The forecast was for rain so we wanted to get closer to Magdeburg if we could

After the constant zigzagging of the trail so far this was pure pleasure today. Dead straight sections and in the direction we WANTED.

Steckby. Checking the library for a book in English. Hamburg 407 km? They must mean as the crow flies !
Then onto a section through a forest. 6km of dead straight concrete. We couldn’t believe it
Walternienburg. The town had lots of really good murals depicting its history right back to the Middle Ages
How’s that for a bike stand outside the local pub
The trail crosses to Barby on the cable ferry
And this one had a description of how it works . Only 2 moving parts. The 2 outer cables are either shortened or lengthened to make the ferry crab across the river
Schonebeck and it’s just started raining. I tried to get the wifi at the information centre but they didn’t have it. Luckily when I sheltered from the rain just here I got onto a free council one ( I needed it to get my booking tonight)
Susen from the information centre followed us down the street to give us 2 souvenir bags of salt. This town has the oldest salt water health spa in Europe ( Susen,I just noticed your tee shirt)

The hotel is one of those cheap and cheerful chain line type. It’ll do fine as we intend staying in an apartment for the whole weekend in Magdeburg
