Rest day

Not for us you understand. 😢 We felt the bikes needed a break. It’s Sunday morning and there’s hardly a soul around. A couple of cafes open but mostly empty. Thank goodness I stocked up on food last night , I forgot the supermarkets close on sundays

Ahah. That’s why , they’re at church lining up for free wine. We saw this cathedral yesterday and because of its history ,wanted to see inside.
Built in 1066 as a Catholic cathedral ( lots of statues) changed hands to the protestants in 1500 after the reformation ( statues out ) . A big fire in 1680 that also destroyed a lot of the town, repaired then used as a warehouse for salt and wool, and then in 1860 ,taken back by the Catholics ( statues back in )

The acoustics were wonderful but we decided to skip the wine and go for coffee instead

Friedensreich Hundertwasser holding a model of his Green Citadel shortly before his death. ( what sort of parents would name a child that !)

We went inside and looked around this time. This city is an open air art gallery and after a brief look in the art museum ( kuntsmuseum in German.)Brief pause for the sniggering to stop

We wandered around taking it all in. ( it was a very hot summer when these were made)
The waters been turned off. It usually sprays out of everywhere, including the dogs doodle

I’ve booked in for one more night, not for more rest but because we are being pursued by the debt collectors. When we stayed at the Elbterracen hotel I thought Booking .com had paid for it. Apparently not! It was CLEARLY written ( in German) that I was to pay at the property. It must have looked bad because we left at 6am. Anyway I’ve promised to go into a bank tomorrow and pay up if they call the dogs off
