Neuermark-Lubars

When we told them we wanted breakfast by 7.00 we thought we were doing them a favour! I mean it’s been daylight for 2 hours. “We never serve before 8.30 sir”he choked. So we settled for 7.30. Not worth the wait actually.

It’s drizzling so we put on coats for the first time( except for cold days)

Every town we passed through today had their transformer box painted with these ‘riding the Elbe ‘ murals

Schelldorf. It’s 26km to our first big town, Tangermunde from the manor house. I’m reliably told there are ATM machines there !
I’ve forgotten the breed of dog that lives with the sheep to protect them. We’ve spotted several flocks on this trip with them ( I just know someone is going to tell me)
Tangermunde. It looks spectacular from all angles with its red brick city walls
An inlet from the Elbe sits below it with the city ‘boating club’. It still amazes me how many yachts we see because I swear, you could NEVER sail against the current on the Elbe
Outside the church( which we checked out of course) we met a young couple going the opposite way to us .ie. Hamburg to Prague. He saw that Christines chain looked rusty so he duly proceeded to oil BOTH our bikes. I in turn was happy to give him the Czechia krona we were still carrying.

Found a bank with an ATM ! Yay ! You’re in trouble without cash . Imagine getting to a ferry and they wouldn’t take you across without paying CASH.

Just out of Arneburg it started raining. Luckily this shelter wasn’t far ahead. The drizzle we had first thing this morning didn’t amount to anything. ( the shelters are at regular intervals the entire Elbe bikeway
At Arneburg we found a supermarket and stocked up on snacks AND something for breakfast tomorrow
Then it was just a few hundred metres to the ferry crossing.
Just on the edge of town , the road was blocked off. (We must have missed the detour sign). I wasn’t going back so I asked the worker if we could use the workers crossing.
I’ve no idea what he said but he didn’t try and stop us
Kuhn Pension. You knew you were in a horsey place when the garage had 3 buggies in it.
He’s got 15 horses here and it was lovely to see the mare and foal just walking around.
He was a cheeky little buggar though. Followed me everywhere
That’s not a smile ! That’s a look of sheer terror in case the horse nibbles her ear again. Our hostess made us a meal and bought us out a beer

Love this place !
