Rain stops play

The forecast for today said rain and they were right ! Not heavy ,but it would have been uncomfortable so I was very happy that I’d told Gwendolyn our hostess, that we would stay an extra day.

I hadn’t realised when I booked ,that we were 4km from the nearest restaurant so all we had for dinner last night was the remainder of a packet of muesli with some powdered milk I found in the cupboard. My God when she bought us breakfast this morning it was like Xmas ! When she came back to clear the table I asked, tongue in cheek, if she minded leaving it all there . Not a problem! Whew 😥

Our apartment. There’s another at the far end
The rain had lifted by 1pm but you can still barely see the wind turbines through the mist.

The farmer has 300 ha . Partly grazing stock but most in wheat, onions and about 150 acres of potatoes. We read and watched TV most of the day . The wonderful thing about Holland is about half the programme’s are in English. 20km away in Germany usually none are.

This shed ,apart from supplying most of their electricity, stores the potatoes and onions. So I know they won’t miss the nice big onion I purloined for dinner
Jamie Oliver would have been proud. Caramelised onion and the remainder of breakfast. Followed by Yoghurt and the muesli she also left.

The forecast is good for tomorrow so we’ll push on further west
