Saint-Martin-sur -le-Pré

It’s Sunday morning and I think the staff have slept in. There’s several people waiting outside the hotel restaurant for breakfast so we decided to skip breakfast and eat on the way

Fishings a favourite past time in France and there were plenty out this morning. You sometimes see large fish from up on the bikes but I’m not sure they would taste any good

We couldn’t figure out what this was for. Perhaps to slow the racing bikes down

Tours sur Marne. We keep looking for a café or boulangerie but Sunday in France is not a good day to be hungry 🤤

The swinging bridge at Bisseuil. ( there was no room for the ramparts of a normal bridge)

Aha ! A boulangerie at Conde sur Marne. They usually make coffee as well but only take away so luckily the market house was next door

Same village. It’s rare to find a roundabout without decoration

It’s also where an offshoot of the canal heads north to Rheims. Not a breeze this morning

By Recy it started spitting so Christine stopped to put her coat on. Big mistake! The mossy’s dived in and bit several times. We’ve been ok while we’ve been moving quickly but I noticed the walkers were whacking themselves constantly

Saint Martin Mairie. ( council building)We are too early to check in yet so we sat in a McDonald’s with a coffee for an hour or so to use their wifi and fill in time.

We are on the outskirts of Châlons-en-Champagne. We’ve only done 35kms but Vitry-le-Francois, the next town with accommodation is another 40kms so this will do us fine

The funny thing was though, this hotel is identical to last nights ! Same on the outside and the inside, even down to the dwarfs bath. I’ve been asked about costs. This one is $113 nz without breakfast
