Neuve Maison

I tell you. Restaurant eating is getting very expensive in France. Two very basic breakfasts cost $52.

We were away by 8.15 but we aren’t doing much more than 40km a day so it doesn’t matter.

Very impressed by the mural on the school wall
We are on the road into Toul as there’s no path beside the canal here

Not without its entertainment though. This thing passed us then got stuck solid trying to get up this side road

Traffic was building up in both directions so I started directing traffic. Probably looked the part in my Fluro jacket but anyway I enjoyed myself
Toul. It’s an ancient fortress so we biked around the interior visiting the information centre for extra directions
The centre is beautiful, all the buildings circling it are curved as well. Market day
It’s been drizzling since we started but finally stopped. Our route takes us over the Moselle on the old bridge then under the motorway
We’ve left the Meuse at Toul and had a choice of going into Nancy by the northern canal or following the Moselle south and biking beside the Vosges canal.

Eeny meeny mynee mo! We went south. We could have bypassed Nancy completely but we want to take a few days off so it seems a good spot

The bikeway is excellent. There’s several school camps along the way
That’s the sign we want. It took several bridges to get across the river and the canal
Our hotel. Recently refurbished and quite reasonably priced.

We’re going to watching the Olympics opening ceremony on television. Much excitement here! I’ve booked an apartment for the weekend right in Nancy so we’re looking forward to a good break
