Nancy

There’s 2 ways to get into Nancy from here. The short way which we were going to take was only 10kms but we met 2 other cyclists at breakfast who warned us off it . Very steep and busy they said so we are going the long way. ( I was all for taking the train but Christine insisted on riding )

2 kms on our way I reached into my pocket for my iPhone and found the hotel keys. Merde ! That’s 4 km we didn’t have to do.
So after about 6kms of road we came across the cycleway beside this canal that goes into Nancy
It must have a good source of water because it’s running a power station
Very light rain but not enough to put a coat on. The path is good
Laneuveville. A reminder of the games.
The locks are huge. At least 3 metre drops. For a start it looked like the boat was sinking !
And they’re coming thick and fast as we drop down into the valley
That’s the same boat that was going through the lock before. We rode beside it to see how fast it was going. 13km/ hr
It was still only 20 kms into the city centre. The receptionist booked us in and took our bikes and gear but wouldn’t let us in until 4pm so we went shopping, had a few beers in this bar
And I got a haircut next door in this Syrian barbershop .10€

I enjoyed cooking dinner in our apartment and we’re looking forward to a browse around the city tomorrow .
