Sélestat

The canal Rhein-Rhone.
Dead straight for the next 30kms. In the south of France the Plane trees had a canker and had to be cut out
The only boat we saw moving today. A hotel barge with American tourists. Not a lot to see on this stretch fella’s
Now this was really interesting. A floating barge scooping up metal from the base of the lake. Dropped on to a series of conveyer belts at least a kilometre long
Screened into different sizes then passed over the canal to a transport hub

The plains of the Alsace were obviously an ancient river bed because there were several large operations like this that we saw

Binderheim.

After 30 kms in a straight line it was a welcome change to head inland towards Sélestat. Binderheim was the first village and we found a boulangerie that also sold coffee

Each village is trying to outdo its neighbours with beautiful gardens. This must be the tidiest part of France!
Her and hubby were weeding the GUTTER!
Muttersholtz. Nearly every house had at least one Stork nest on it. They make a strange clacking noise with their beaks as they talk across the buildings to each other
The old blacksmith shop.
There was a strong smell of fibre glass coming from this garage so I had to have a look

Benoit was his name and he restores classic cars under his house. We spent half an hour there as I drooled over his XK jaguar he was restoring

Selestat.
We had lunch in the old fish market then went to find our hotel. Actually called BnB hotels but very nice
