Basil Airport

But first let’s mention the concert in the park last night. Just a short walk from our apartment, the band was entertaining us until it was dark enough for the movie ( gone with the wind in French )

The band was Turkish , good for a while but certainly not enough to keep us there to watch an old movie

The Mulhouse Cathedral was less than 100 metres from home. I popped inside it to see an art exhibition yesterday .

But let’s get back to today. Susan and Michael are due into Basil at 1pm so we caught the 12.15 train to the airport.

What a stressful ride from the train station to the airport. Only about 2kms but no cycle route, and when we found ourselves entering a motorway, we went back to the station and took a bus

Yay finally ! Luckily they were late out as Mike had already assembled their bikes in the baggage pick up area

We were more careful finding our route out of the airport and we were soon on the canal bikeway back to Mulhouse

The first sign ! Eurovélo 6. The route that will take us via canal paths and riversides to the Atlantic (in Sue and Mikes case , goodness knows where in our case )
Gravel for most of the 30kms but still very smooth
Kembs
It’s a little further following the canal but the absence of cars makes it worth it.
Like a couple of old French housewives. gossiping with your neighbours
After a shower and a rest we found the nearest bar that had a Tele so we could watch the gold medal soccer match

And so tomorrow we head west
