THE LOIRE

Interesting thing we found out about this town last night. Outside our hotel this bunch of young pilgrims came marching past, at least a thousand of them. Turns out this happens on this day every year . Usually 4000 plus but because of the Olympics this year the numbers are down. Why? Apparently in 1671 a young nun saw an apparition of Jesus here. That’s why our hotel was so overpriced last night. 😡

Going on at the same time was a wedding in the big cathedral. Such a cool wedding car.

We only had just under 40kms today so we had a late start. Plus it was COLD

Oh no, not coffee and pastries for breakfast again.
Paray le Monial impressed us no end. Clean and pretty! To get the water out you must turn the handle which operates a pump
That cheeky Michael was about to take a photo of Susan helping Christine into her longs
They will see a lot more of these traditional boats further along the Loire. Looks like they build them here
They were only light showers but we’re a bunch of sissy’s
DIGOIN. and the canal finally crosses the Loire. The beginning of the Loire lateral canal and the end of the Canal du Centre. Magnificent piece of engineering
It’s the beginning of Michael and Susans next adventure and nearly the end of ours
Just another 15kms to Diou as the canal crosses yet another stream
Diou. Our apartment is a full house. It’s only 1pm and it’s going to be a nice relaxing afternoon watching a few movies
