Decize

The door to the left is our bike garage for the night. It’s been a great little house except we couldn’t work the washing machine and it ran until after midnight. Consequently all our clothes are wet this morning and there’s certainly no drying on the back of our bikes
Heavy mist hanging off the canal. Damp and chilly
So at this stage I’m starting to sing ‘here comes the sun’
Boulonge and here’s the sun. Also a very welcome Boulanger as we’ve only had a yoghurt for breakfast
That was supposed to be a Grande cafe but it was 2 good swallows at the most. Susan got the last 2 croissants so I had to get a baguette.luckily we had butter left over from last night
On the way out of town I saw inside a man’s garage and he was fiddling with his vintage motorcycle. Now this really gets me excited!
He bought it outside for me but to his embarrassment, couldn’t get it started for me to have a blat
The route couldn’t follow the canal as it was just a grass path so we meandered through the countryside seeing lots of little villages
There’s been several hire boats on the canal today. This lateral canal links to Paris via the Briare pont so it’s probably more interesting
Our team leader lost the correct route and we ended up going through a farm. The irrigation dripped all over us but it is warming up so no harm done
The locks along here are manually opened
Decize. We’ve left the canal and are crossing the river itself into the old town
I’ve always got time to watch tradesmen at work. These men were putting a new slate roof on this building
Home for the night. Interesting way to finish our time together. GLAMPING.
2 separate bedrooms. Kitchen, big deck. This is fun but I’ll tell you in the morning what I think of it.

We catch the train to Paris in the morning while Mike and Susan carry on the Loire. If you want to follow their trip, and Susan does a good blog, google. letsbikeshesaid.blog
