Paris post Olympics

We were 2 kms out of the centre city so there was still the same crazy traffic everyone is used to

Police did a spot check on all the scooters in our street. Just looking for anything suspicious they told me.

They are taking security very seriously here during the games. Every street had either police or Gendarmes patrolling with their guns at the ready

In the heart of the city it was so strange. Cars were banned from all the tourist spots including the waterfront. Chairs were laid out along the riverside and signs encouraging people to enjoy a day at the Plage ( beach ) were everywhere. *But there were also signs that said swimming in the river is illegal*

All along this wall there were signs explaining the stages of restoration. I’ve been recording roofs going on buildings this whole trip but this takes the cake. Yes I have a thing about roofs don’t I

Imagine this man in peasants clothing in 1324. Exactly the same method used to build the stone roof ( knave ). Build a wooden scaffold under it then lay the tapered blocks over it. Then take the scaffold away and hope you’ve got it right. Unbelievable skill!

I’m searching for a tree donated by the Tauranga Francophile’s . Shelley my former teacher told me to look for it but the end ,where it was ,has been fenced off and can only be reached over this scaffold bridge

We filled in time with the locals in the beautiful Parc Monceau

The Montmart zone is a very vibrant part of the city and we had to pass the Moulin rouge on our way to our apartment

Now ,I spend more time doing my bookings to be sure I have the right day, and that there’s bike storage and shops nearby, this apartment looked great and bloody cheap for Paris

However, it didn’t say it was on the 6th floor up 😮‍💨 this shot is from the inner courtyard and our apartment is the very top one with the window open

Then I had to run out and get some milk for breakfast 😩well when I say ran……..
